Project 2

Previously on EP 101, I've had just completed the presentation as project 1, which believe me I was more prepared mentally before I took a nap right before my turn; that was when it all went down south. 
Above is the observation that I made of the location that I have chosen to do my case study. Seri Wawasan, Putrajaya. An upcoming city in our region, it is currently low in population as areas of this location are undergoing developement. Based on the 4 boards I illustrated how I viewed the city in a different manner, not forgetting to apply the significant 'marks'. Following the trail, I made it in the same manner as my actual travel, everything from the sights to the senses. The story tells of two travellers journeying to a place in search of serenity upon the post-apocalyptic event (A group effort). Mine starts off with octagonal panels, symbolizing the many buildings and structures all eager to stand out in shape, colour and size. 

The 2nd panel, the silouette of the location; to an eye of a wanderer it is avails itself to be almost and alluring oasis from a far.

The 3rd panel displays the many hidden boundaries that one will stumble upon this journey. There were many. the shadows that danced on the streets, the body of water that centers and parts the oasis etc. But chosen, is it obvious but least likely thought off, a sign of respect and power, the traffic light. Controlling the flow and frequency at its will.

The 4th and final board is the destination. My place being a bridge, i chose to stretch out this structure along the 4 boards to show consistency but ending it at the very last to show closure.

Building Science and Services Project 1. Site Study

As a group, we have chosen our site to be the Suriamas Condominium. This project is to observe and lookout for key problems in the building, with the purpose to exercise our skills in applying solutions to these places. To my surprise the condition of this buildings services as a whole is not as unpleasant as we thought it would be. Overall, it is a decent place with adequate resources and facilities. Nevertheless, in light of this assignment, we still managed to find defects. Round 2! Group assignment ended, another one begins. Upon completing the first, we were asked to chose a particular insect, and of the 6 choices we chose what seemed most appropriate. Yet the journey through this process was an utmost disgust. You'll understand in a moment. One word says it all. Worms. All things long and squirmy, we had to research that. Worms,Centipedes and Millipedes was the given topic and in 3 days we presented our findings. The process in presenting our visual board. The reason to why I called it a visual board is because we were meant to visualize aspects of our insect while each of the components and facts remain intact with the rest of the information gathered. For the reason that it would be too much or hectic to look for attributes with the possibility of having overlapping information, we divided the load and my findings were its behaviour.

Recap on the Rise and fall of Project Archy

To recap from the experience that we had, it was an enjoyable assignment where we see variations of designs and builds of the structures. This experiment showed us that each team had their own strengths and weaknesses in the arch. But what I think mattered at the end of the day is how well-rounded ones build is. This is because, if we were to apply it to our physical context, the main goal is to create and design a unique habitable living space. If that were the case, ours would probably kill people in regions where seismic activity is high but will stand out if it were a bunker.  From what I have learnt, is that the balance is key. Design is an important component but at the end of the day, functionality remains the priority.
