Finale

Here comes the big one. This project being tied to the core subject of our course makes it difficult to love this part of the assignment. Whereby we are to understand, imagine, reorganize, and reinvent the space for our client in his temporal home.
Done on an A2 board, i illustrated the flow and frequency in use of my container home's space in my version of and abstract persective. leading from the house, it leads from the center garden that takes one through the living room/ kitchen that also opens up into a bar. Later, leading down to the open deck that brings the audience out unto the open over the lake; following the direction it then enters the gallery. But knowing the personality and the person my client presents himself to be, he is the kind to entertain guest, that is why the demograph shows it being closer in terms of use in space. Down from the gallery would be the workshop, a private space but also accessible in the means of visitors that would like to have a glimpse of the man at work. 

Last but not least, the private quarters. a place of solace, reflection and relaxation. That is who it is depicted as an area out of reach from the overall pattern of flow.

Above is my board of the Thumbnails and the Signages that would be found in this container house. All of it are designed uniquely to the house but it is made in a very minimalistic way with a modern twist so that it will not stray too far from the trend. If it were to be very 'extravagant' simple signages may have the tendency of becoming very hard to decipher.

As a group, we have chosen our site to be the Suriamas Condominium. This project is to observe and lookout for key problems in the building, with the purpose to exercise our skills in applying solutions to these places. To my surprise the condition of this buildings services as a whole is not as unpleasant as we thought it would be. Overall, it is a decent place with adequate resources and facilities. Nevertheless, in light of this assignment, we still managed to find defects. Round 2! Group assignment ended, another one begins. Upon completing the first, we were asked to chose a particular insect, and of the 6 choices we chose what seemed most appropriate. Yet the journey through this process was an utmost disgust. You'll understand in a moment. One word says it all. Worms. All things long and squirmy, we had to research that. Worms,Centipedes and Millipedes was the given topic and in 3 days we presented our findings. The process in presenting our visual board. The reason to why I called it a visual board is because we were meant to visualize aspects of our insect while each of the components and facts remain intact with the rest of the information gathered. For the reason that it would be too much or hectic to look for attributes with the possibility of having overlapping information, we divided the load and my findings were its behaviour.

Recap on the Rise and fall of Project Archy

To recap from the experience that we had, it was an enjoyable assignment where we see variations of designs and builds of the structures. This experiment showed us that each team had their own strengths and weaknesses in the arch. But what I think mattered at the end of the day is how well-rounded ones build is. This is because, if we were to apply it to our physical context, the main goal is to create and design a unique habitable living space. If that were the case, ours would probably kill people in regions where seismic activity is high but will stand out if it were a bunker.  From what I have learnt, is that the balance is key. Design is an important component but at the end of the day, functionality remains the priority.
